Maliban Milk Products Ltd. has launched the much-awaited full cream milk powder brand Maliban Melko for the Sri Lankan consumer.
Melko Full Cream Milk Powder is creamier and thicker than products available in the market and caters to the Sri Lankan palate. These unique features further translate to more glasses of milk and therefore savings for the consumer, making Maliban Melko a value for money product for Sri Lankan households. The product was devised after research identified an increased demand in the market for a wholesome full cream milk powder.
Subsequent steps included research, development and comprehensive testing to ensure that Melko was creamier, thicker and easily dissolvable; qualities that would define its unique selling position. Once the product was developed, testing revealed 80% of consumers identified the product to be milkier and thicker, while most stated they would switch to Maliban Melko, as it was tasty and the economical choice.
Another high quality product of the House of Maliban, Melko is also compliant with international quality and food safety standards including ISO – 9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO – 22000 Food Safety Management Systems and ISO – 14000 Environmental Management systems. Maliban Melko also conforms to the GMP – Good Manufacturing Practices system and HACCP – Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points system.
“Sri Lankan consumers have long awaited a milk powder product that is milkier and therefore the thriftier option, so we are certain that customers will accept Melko. Maliban is a local brand and steeped in family values, any product that we introduced to the market goes through a rigorous process to ensure to offer the best product to Sri Lankan consumer. Our founder chairman’s guidance to the board of directors was to not release any product that would not be good enough to give their own children. We will never compromise our quality for our nation and our future generation. This is our promise to the Sri Lankan consumer,” says Maliban Milk Products Ltd. CEO Lukshman Weerasooriya.
A popular local brand that has surpassed international competition to establish itself in the Sri Lankan market, Maliban Milk entered the dairy industry with its product Maliban Kiri, which has a 26% milk fat content. Maliban has recently revamp most of its dairy brands and they have been well accepted by consumers. Their portfolio has grown to include, Maliban Fit and Slim, Maliban Hi-Cal Gold, Maliban Vitagen and now Maliban Melko.
Since its establishment in 1946, the House of Maliban has been a leader in the food industry for over 60 years and Maliban products are well recognised globally with its biscuit brand accepted in 35 countries including Australia, UK and the US, honoured with accolades such as the National Quality Award.
