Würth Endurance Karting Challenge - 2019 for corporates will take place on Saturday 23 March at the Sri Lanka Karting Circuit Bandaragama (SLKC). The event is organised by the Sri Lanka Karting Circuit Bandaragama (SLKC) and is officiated by the Ceylon Motor Sports Club. This is an invitation race that is open to corporate establishments operating in Sri Lanka. It is a three hour team endurance event for 20 teams of six to eight individuals with a mandatory inclusion of one female driver. The team that records the highest number of laps within the three hour period emerge the winners. This will be followed by the fastest men’s kart sprint race and fastest women’s kart sprint race.
Endurance Karting is ideal for building team spirit, strategic planning as well as leveraging individual skills for collective success. It is therefore a great HR, networking and bonding experience, with the exciting prospect of bringing the winner’s trophy home.
Speaking further on this event, David Pieris Racing and Leisure Ltd. (that owns and operates SLKC) Managing Director Nalaka Madugalle said, “How often do amateurs get to race on an internationally certified, purpose-built go-kart track? Our objective is to give everyone access to the excitement and thrill of racing in a safe environment. We have held several corporate events and we wanted to extend the exhilaration and passion we saw at these to the wider corporate sector and allow corporates to compete outside of the business arena”.
The first round of the corporate karting challenge is scheduled to be started at 9.00 a.m on Saturday.
Winner, 1st Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up of the endurance challenge will be awarded trophies and medals. All participants will receive certificates.
SLKC is open for rental operations providing the opportunity for karting enthusiasts to experience a professional world-class motorsports facility for the first time in Sri Lanka. A fleet of several types of rental karts are available for different skill levels, for anyone who wants to try out the sport or simply have a fun-filled, thrilling experience. SLKC provides safety gear such as helmets and gloves, ensuring the safety of the drivers. Karting is known as the grassroot level of future motorsport champions.
Bambino karts and a separate track for children between the ages of 4-7 is available to drive under skilled supervision, while kids aged 8-12 years can enjoy the main track in Cadet Karts. This is another first introduced to Sri Lanka last October by SLKC. Youngsters aged 13 and above can enjoy karting and racing on the main track with adults.
Other leisure activities such as the air rifle shooting range, a swimming pool (including kiddie’s pool) and a multi-cuisine fusion restaurant complement the karting experience.
Würth Lanka Ltd. is the proud title sponsor of the Endurance Karting Challenge 2019, while KTM Sri Lanka and Bajaj QUTE will be the co-sponsors of this first-ever corporate karting challenge taking place in Sri Lanka.
