The World Trade Center, Colombo together with the Colombo Stock Exchange facilitates the Rotary International “One Million Tree Story” project as part of its Corporate Sustainability efforts.

Housing the largest network of corporates under one roof including the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), the World Trade Center, Colombo recently collaborated with the Rotary District 3220 and the CSE to facilitate the Rotary International “One Million Tree Story” project by planting a tree at the forecourt of the WTC, Colombo.

Jennifer Jones, the first Woman Rotary Global President graced the event highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability and the requirement for all corporates in Sri Lanka to focus on the triple bottom line metrics of social, environmental, and financial results even though the country is experiencing its toughest economic challenges. 



As the most iconic commercial building in Sri Lanka, The World Trade Center, Colombo over the past years have taken pride in developing a sustainable business by aligning the Company’s core strategy with the main pillars of Corporate Sustainability. Each pillar including risk governance, environmental and social sustainability, biodiversity, energy management, energy conservation are closely monitored and reported annually to improve performance.

During the past 25 years of operations, the WTC Colombo has received numerous awards and accolades for its commitment to sustainable operations and energy management.  WTC Colombo is also the first ever commercial building in Sri Lanka to receive the ISO 50001: 2018 Energy Management System Certification.



Additionally, WTC Colombo received the Gold Flame award by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority as the most energy efficient commercial building and was also conferred the Gold Rating by the Green Building Council in Sri Lanka.
