Sri Lanka’s economic resurgence is supported by the information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, which is playing a huge role in the country’s economic resurgence. The IT/BPO sector is now consistently on the country’s top five foreign exchange earners list, and the number of IT professionals is increasing as the Sri Lankan education system turns out around 10,000 IT graduates per year.
Add Acumatica, the world’s fastest growing cloud ERP company, to the list of tech firms that are expanding their operations in Sri Lanka. Today, the business management solutions company announced that it is opening a new office for its engineering, support, services, finance, IT, and HR teams operating in Sri Lanka.
For the past three years, Acumatica has rented its Sri Lankan office space from its sister firm, IFS, but, as the team quickly increased from zero to 80+ members, it outgrew that space and needed a place all its own. The new office is located on the 27th floor of the Cinnamon Life Integrated Resort office tower, which is one of the largest foreign direct investments in the country. The office boasts private conference rooms and space for 40 employees, making it a fully-fledged facility for the Acumatica team.
The Sri Lankan team was built from scratch and has extensive plans to grow its operational and business footprint—which was clearly seen when Access International, part of the Access Group, one of the most well-known corporate brands in Sri Lanka, signed on as a customer. To keep up with these goals, the team is also looking to grow in number and is actively seeking new talent to join Acumatica’s ranks. “Our Sri Lankan team is a critical part of Acumatica’s global operations, providing important input in our development process and essential support for our customers,” said John Case, Chief Executive Officer of Acumatica. “Our new office opening in Colombo is an exciting milestone for our Sri Lankan team and reflects the ongoing global growth and evolution of Acumatica in the region.”
The growth in Sri Lanka reflects the broader global growth the company is experiencing as it meets the technology needs of small and midsized businesses throughout the world. Acumatica has grown to exceed 700 employees and recently surpassed 10,000 customers.
Speaking of the Acumatica Community and what it has to offer, Supul Jayawardane, Acumatica’s Director of Operations, Sri Lanka, said: “Acumatica is a fast-growing, global ERP company with many opportunities. You’ll be working with a top-market product founded on a solid tech stack—a product that uses C# that is 100% cloud-based and database independent. You’ll be working with a mature product that is only going to keep growing. If you are an engineer, you’ll be working with a complex product with over 2,000 screens, which will challenge you intellectually. And, above all, you’ll have the opportunity to make an impact on the future of business technology and the Sri Lankan tech sector.”
For those interested in opportunities at Acumatica, Supul recommends visiting the Acumatica Sri Lanka careers page and keeping an eye on the Acumatica Sri Lanka social media pages on LinkedIn and Facebook. “Joining Acumatica,” he said, “is a challenging and a rewarding experience, and we look forward to broadening our horizons in Sri Lanka.”
This is an exciting time for tech in Sri Lanka, and Supul noted that Acumatica, always on the cutting edge of technology, is thrilled to be part of this growth as it continues to increase its operations in the region.
