The Sri Lanka Tea Exporters’ Association (SLTEA) yesterday handed over 03 million bags of Ceylon tea worth US$ 60,000 to President Mahinda Rajapaksa to be sent to tsunami-stricken Japan.
SLTEA Chairman Jayantha Keragala handed over the bags of tea to the President at Temple Trees. The tea bags will be part of Sri Lanka’s relief support to people affected by the March 11th earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Minister of The Plantation Industries Mahinda Samarasinghe, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Ambassador Designate to Japan, Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda, Chairman Sri Lanka Tea Board Susantha Ratnayaka, Tea Exporters Association, Vice Chairman Rohan Fernando were also present
