The 98th Annual General Meeting of the Colombo Rubber Traders’ Association will be held on Friday, 14 July at 7 p.m. at the Renuka City Hotel, Colombo.
It will be attended by all stakeholders of the rubber industry which includes planters, traders, manufacturers and exporters of rubber. The Chief Guest on this occasion will be Minister of Plantation Industries Navin Dissanayake.
The current Chairman who holds office is a veteran in the trade; he is Sunil Poholiyadde of Kegalle Plantations PLC. Sunil Poholiyadde is the Managing Director of the Plantations Sector of the Richard Pieris Group and counts over four decades in the plantation industry. He is also the current Chairman of the Planters’ Association of Ceylon and in addition serves on many Boards connected to the industry. Anura Edirisinghe of C.W. Mackie PLC was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Association. Anura Edirisinghe counts over 40 years as an exporter of rubber and his versatility has guided the association for the past 25 years.
The Colombo Rubber Traders’ Association was formally inaugurated in November 1918, under the mission ‘To be the Premier Forum for Rubber’. The first Chairman of the CRTA was J. Lochore of Carson & Co. Ltd.
The CRTA’s mission is to be the premier forum for rubber in the country and its main objective is to advance efficient and transparent trade between sellers, producers, buyers, exporters and dealers and to support the expansion and sustainability of the rubber industry in Sri Lanka.
