At the recently concluded Colombo Tea Auction on 26 April, Aislaby Estate had the proud distinction of achieving an all-time Colombo Tea Auction record price of Rs. 2,250 per kg for a FBOP Grade, in the Uva High grown elevation category. This line of tea was purchased by M/s Ahmed Tea Ltd.
Aislaby Estate is situated at an elevation of 1,218 m above mean sea level in the Uva High grown planting district. The total extent of the estate is 325 hectares with an annual production of 800,000 kg of made tea.
Aislaby Estate maintains a high standard of manufacture, focused on producing good quality teas, which has attributed in achieving these results.
Aislaby Estate is an ISO:22000 certified and Rain Forest alliance compliant and comes under the management of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC, under the stewardship of Group Manager Manoj Ramdas who has been behind the success of Aislaby Estate in the recent past.
Eastern Brokers Ltd. were the brokers associated with the sale of this line of tea.
