Craighead Estate achieved an all-time record price of Rs. 1,140 per kg for an BOPSP grade in the Western Medium category, at the weekly E-Auctions held on 31 January. Craighead Estate teas are exclusively marketed by M/s. Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd.
The estate is reputed for producing high-quality, award-winning teas and has the distinction of also achieving the following all-time record prices in the Western Medium Elevation category: FBOPF1 at Rs. 1,450; FBOP at Rs. 1,800; BOP1 at Rs. 1,600; OP1 at Rs. 1,500. They currently hold five all-time record prices in the respective category.
Craighead Estate is situated in Nawalapitiya in the Kandy planting district, at an elevation of 800 m above sea level and was originally built in 1914. This factory has an annual capacity of 650,000 kg of made tea and is Rainforest Alliance and ISO: 22000:2018 Management System for Manufacture of Black Tea certified.
This estate is managed by Kahawatte Plantation PLC under the stewardship of Director Plantations Chaminda Gunarathna, Estate Manger Abhishek Samarakoon and Factory Manager K.G. Kudabanda.
