At the auction held on 29-30 April Finlays Tea Estates PLC’s Oodoowerre Estate, Demodara improved its own record for Uva High Grown OP1 grade by achieving Rs. 1,000 per kg. This tea was purchased by The Tea and Herb Co. Ltd.
Similarly, from the Low Grown category a line of New Vithanakande Estate BOP1 sold at an all-time record price of Rs. 2,600 per kg, breaking its own record for this grade. This tea was bought by Vintage Teas Ceylon Ltd. New Vithanakande Estate is owned by family members of late N.B.H. Pilapitiya.
All these teas were successfully marketed by Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC.
