In supporting the vision of the country and sector to embrace organic fertilisers to improve and achieve better standards of healthy living, Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Lanka, part of the global leader for testing, inspection and certification services, recently stepped up to expand its laboratory services to now offer organic fertiliser testing.
The organic fertiliser product categories that can be tested are liquid, solid and compost, and its main test parameters include chemical requirements, toxic elements, microbiological analysis, and physical requirements.
Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Vice President for Central Asia Region Rasanga U. Hewage said, “We take great pride in supporting the Government and country in its decision to ban chemical fertilisers and pesticides and adopt an organic approach to agriculture. Our organic fertiliser analysis will help farmers, planters, and businesses to get a head start in this process. Trust is the foremost core value we cherish at Bureau Veritas and this is well-reflected in every relationship fostered by our Sri Lankan arm.”
The benefits of using organic fertilisers as opposed to inorganic fertilisers and pesticides is plenty, such as improved soil structure including its water retention abilities, season-long supply of nutrients, increased water holding capacity. They help microbes thrive which aids crop growth and even keep off pests naturally.
“With years of knowledge-sharing and collaboration with both the public and private sector in essential imports as well as exports we are fully equipped to fulfil the nation’s needs and requirements for organic fertiliser testing backed by our widely regarded scientific technicians and professionals who work tirelessly to ensure timely delivery of high-quality technical expertise and speed to market,” said Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Lanka General Manager Harsha Wanasinghe.
