The Cabinet of Ministers approved for the Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka Forestry Institute and its Inamaluwa Field Training Centre to be utilised by external parties for short-term training programs.
The decision aims to supplement the regular in-service training courses provided to Forest Conservation Department officers. By extending these programs to officers from Government and non-Government organisations, utilising the institute’s facilities, participants can enhance their knowledge, skills and positive attitudes towards forest conservation.
“Opening up the Sri Lanka Forestry Institute’s facilities to other institutions and the public is expected to generate additional income for the State coffers,” Cabinet Co-Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardena said on Tuesday at the post-Cabinet meeting media briefing.
The proposal, presented by Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, received approval from the Cabinet of Ministers.
