Coconut Growers Association of Sri Lanka (CGASL) recently opened its secretariat at the National Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka, 450, D.R. Wijewardane Mawatha Colombo 10.
The establishment of the secretariat and employing an executive officer is a key milestone in the strategic plan.

CGASL is an organisation consisting of 850 Life members engaged in the commercial production of coconuts. It counts 29 years of service to its members with the Executive Committee offering voluntary service. CGASL was awarded accreditation as an Associate Member of the International Coconut Community (ICC) www.coconutcommunity.org in 2019 on the completion of 25 years of service to the grower community of Sri Lanka. ICC is an intergovernmental organisation of coconut-producing countries organised in 1969 under the aegis of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
CGASL is registered as a company limited by guarantee (not for profit) and operates under Companies Act No. 7 of 2007. It has 850 members representing 10% of the extent of coconut plantation with eight regional committees in the provinces.
CGA has provided three decades of service to its members and a voice to the one million smallholder grower community of the industry. CGASL adopted a strategic plan to provide a better service to its members and to be proactive with all stakeholders of the coconut industry under the theme “Sustainable Coconut.”
