MUMBAI (Reuters): India’s natural rubber imports in July fell 13.8% from a year ago to 35,560 tons as domestic output jumped due to favourable weather, the state-run Rubber Board said in a statement on Tuesday.
The country’s production rose 11.5% in the month to 58,000 tons, while consumption nudged up 0.7% to 89,000 tons, the Board said.
In the first four months of the 2017/18 fiscal year that began April 1, imports fell 12.1% from a year ago to 130,543 tons, it said.
India imports natural rubber mainly from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia.
