John Keells announces over a dozen record prices at tea auctions

Hingalgoda Tea Factory establishes all-time record price

Hingalgoda Tea Factory, known for producing premium quality low grown CTC teas, achieved an all-time record price at the weekly tea auctions held on 20 April, by securing an attractive price of Rs. 1,040 per kg for a PFNGS grade in the Off Grade category. This line of tea was purchased by Akbar Brothers Ltd. Hingalgoda Tea Factory is managed by Tea Small Holder Factories PLC and this invoice was marketed and sold by John Keells PLC.

 

Kiruwanaganga Estate establishes all-time record price

Kiruwanaganga Estate situated in Deniyaya renowned for producing quality liquoring teas achieved an all-time record price of Rs. 2,750 per kg for an OP grade in the Low Grown category. This line of tea was purchased by Ceylon Tea Marketing Ltd., at this week’s tea auction.

Kiruwanaganga Estate is managed by Talawakelle Tea Estates PLC and this invoice of tea was marketed and sold by tea broker John Keells PLC.

 

Yet another all-time record price for Pedro Estate 

Pedro Estate located in Nuwara Eliya, renowned for producing teas with delicate liquoring characteristics re-established an all-time record price at the tea auction held this week. An attractive price of Rs. 2,050 per kg for a BOP grade was achieved under the “Lovers Leap” mark. This surpassed the previous record price of Rs. 1,800 per kg for the same grade at the tea auction held on 5 April. 

Pedro Estate is managed by Kelani Valley Plantations PLC, and this line of tea was purchased by Tea Tang Ltd., and marketed and sold by John Keells PLC.

 

Dunsinane Estate establishes all-time record price

Dunsinane Estate, which comes under the purview of Elpitiya Plantations PLC, established an all-time record price for a CTC High Grown PF1 grade at Rs. 1,420 per kg at the weekly tea auction conducted on 20 April. 

This line of tea was purchased by Akbar Brothers Ltd. and marketed and sold by tea broker John Keells PLC.

 

Delta Estate re-establishes all-time record price

Delta Estate located in Pupuressa, re-established an all-time record price at this week’s tea auction by securing a price of Rs. 860 per kg for a BP1 grade, surpassing their record price of Rs. 800 per kg for the same grade achieved at the tea auction held on 5 April. This line of tea was purchased by Heritage Teas Ltd.

Delta Estate comes under the purview of Pussellawa Plantations Ltd. and the selling broker was John Keells PLC.

 

All-time record price for Ceciliyan Tea Factory

Ceciliyan Tea Factory, managed by Ceciliyan Associates Ltd., situated in Kalawana, Ratnapura, established an all-time record price of Rs. 1,020 per kg on a BP1 grade in the Low Grown Category at this week’s tea auction held on 20 April. 

This invoice of tea was purchased by Akbar Brothers Ltd. and the sale was conducted by tea broker John Keells PLC.

 

All-time record price for Venture Estate

Venture Estate, known for producing quality liquoring orthodox teas established an all-time record price, of Rs. 2,350 per kg on an OP1 grade in the Western High Grown Category at this week’s tea auction held on 20 April. This line of tea was purchased by St. Clair Teas Ltd. Venture Estate is located in Bogawantalawa and is managed by Madulsima Plantations PLC. This invoice of tea was marketed and sold by John Keells PLC.

 

All-time record price for Randenigala Super Tea Factory

Randenigala Super Tea Factory, located at Rangala, established an all-time record price, of Rs. 1,750 per kg on an OP grade in the Western Medium Category at this week’s tea auction held on 20 April. This line of tea was purchased by Sinbad Ltd. 

Randenigala Super Tea Factory is managed by Gatagahawela Plantations PLC, a subsidiary of Wheels Lanka Group. This invoice of tea was marketed and sold by John Keells PLC.

 

Mooloya Estate achieves all-time record price

Mooloya Estate, located in Hewahata, established an all-time record price, of Rs. 1,480 per kg for a BOPF grade in the Udapussellawa Category at this week’s tea auction held on 20 April. This line of tea was purchased by Heritage Teas Ltd.

Mooloya Estate is managed by Pussellawa Plantations Ltd., and this invoice of tea was marketed and sold by John Keells PLC.

 

Demodara Estate achieves all-time record price

Demodara Estate, located in Badulla known for producing quality liquoring orthodox teas established an all-time record price, of Rs 1,800 per kg on BOP grade in the Uva Medium Category at this week’s tea auction held on 20 April. This line of tea was purchased by Inter Tea Ltd.

Demodara Estate is under the purview of Hapugastenne Plantations PLC, managed by Browns Plantations. This invoice of tea was marketed and sold by John Keells PLC.

 

Two all-time record prices for Halpewatte Uva Estate

Halpewatte Uva Estate located in Bandarawela, which is renowned for producing quality light liquoring orthodox teas, established all-time record prices for a BOPSp grade at Rs. 1,900 per kg and Rs. 1,850 per kg on a FBOPF1 in the Uva Medium Category at the tea auction held on 20 April. These invoices were purchased by Mabroc Teas Ltd. and Shan Tea Ltd., respectively.

Halpewatte Uva Estate is managed by Halpewatte Estate Ltd., and the teas were marketed and sold by John Keells PLC.

 

All-time record price for Glen Alpin 

Glen Alpin Estate, known for producing quality teas established an all-time record price, of Rs. 2,350 per kg on an OP1 grade in the Uva Medium Category at this week’s tea auction held on 20 April. This line of tea was purchased by Enrich Tea and Food Exports Ltd.

Glen Alpin Estate is located in Badulla and is managed by Balangoda Plantations PLC. This invoice of tea was marketed and sold by John Keells PLC.

 

Balmoral Estate establishes all-time record price

Balmoral Estate situated in Agrapathana, renowned for producing High quality liquoring teas established an all-time record price of Rs. 1,340 per kg for a FNGS1 grade under the “Clydesdale” mark in the Off Grade category. This line of tea was purchased by Tea Tang Ltd. at this week’s tea auction held on 20 April.  Balmoral Estate is managed by Agrapathana Plantations Ltd., and this line of tea was marketed and sold by tea broker John Keells PLC.
