More records tumble at latest tea auction

Lumbini Tea Factory

Lumbini Tea Factory Deniyaya, one of the best orthodox tea factories in Sri Lanka, achieved record prices of Rs. 3,800 on a BOP1 grade and Rs. 3,700 for an OP1 grade. These teas were purchased by Stassen Exports Ltd and Tea Tang Ltd respectively. Teas were sold by Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC.

Lumbini, which is owned by D. Jayawardena and the strong guidance together with able leadership of Managing Director Chaminda Jayawardena

 



Brombil Tea Factory

Brombil Tea Factory, located in Pellawatte, Kalutara, manufactures some of the best Pure Ceylon Orthodox and CTC teas.  An Invoice of Pekoe1 recorded a highest ever price of Rs. 2,350 breaking the previous record of Rs. 1,950 achieved before. This tea was purchased by Malawatte Valley Plantations PLC and marketed by Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC. 

This factory belongs to Evergreen Group, chaired by Aruna de Silva. Brombil Tea Factory is managed by Director Dr. Indika Nallaperuma, Director Senal de Silva, Manager Tyron Rathnayake, Production Manager Aruna Edirisooriya and Factory Officer Chamil Ruchira.



New Vithanakande Tea Factory

A connoisseur manufacture of Pure Ceylon Black Teas, New Vithanakande Tea Factory, Delwala set a new record high for Low Grown BOP recording Rs. 2,150 at this week’s auctions purchased by Ceylon Fresh Teas Ltd and auctioned by Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC.

They have achieved record prices for its range of high-quality teas and won awards nationally and internationally over the years.

This factory is chaired by Nirmalene Pilapitiya and under the supervision of CEO Patrick Vanderpoortan, Factory Manager Lal Liyanaarachchi and Factory Officer K.W.N.P. Nissanka.

 



Oodoowerre Estate 

Oodoowerre Estate owned by Hapugastenne Plantations PLC, a member of the LOLC Group and managed by Shammi Upendra, achieved two new records in the Uva High category, this week. 

An Invoice of BOPS was sold at Rs. 1,500 per kilo, which was purchased by LOLC Holdings and an Invoice of FBOPF1 was sold at a price of Rs. 1,800 and purchased by Imperial Teas Ltd. These teas were marketed by Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC.

 

Dickwella Estate

In the Uva Medium category Dickwella Estate of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC improved on its own record by selling an invoice of BOPFSP at Rs. 1,650 to Akbar Brothers Ltd. 

This estate is in the very capable care of Regional Manager Chaminda Perera and the factory by the veteran A.M. Shajahan. 

Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC was the Auctioneer of this tea.
