Reflecting the strong demand for Low Grown Orthodox teas, once again an invoice of New Vithanakande BOP1 improved its own record for this grade by achieving Rs. 1,700 per kg at the Colombo Tea Auction held on 5-6 November.
New Vithanakande estate always sells at the top end of the quality market, and its teas are recognized as being amongst the best in the Low Grown category. This is the sixth record set by Vithanakande so far this year.
New Vithanakande Tea Factory is located in Delwala hills of the Sabaragamuwa region and is owned by the family members of late N.B.H. Pilapitiya.
This line of tea was purchased by J M J International Ltd. and successfully marketed by Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC.
