The Pothotuwa Tea Factory achieved an all-time record price of Rs. 2,000 for a Low Grown OP1 grade, surpassing the previous record of Rs. 1,700, at the weekly tea auctions held on 11 and 13 October.
This line of tea was purchased by Euro Scan Exports Ltd. and marketed by Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers Ltd.
The Pothotuwa Tea Factory, which was established in 1989, is situated in Beralapanathara-Deniyaya at an elevation of 1,580 feet above sea level. This factory produces approximately 1 M/kg per annum and is Rainforest Alliance and Ethical Tea Partnership certified. The Pothotuwa Tea Factory is owned and managed by Anil Alwis.
