Pussellawa Plantations Ltd. and Agalawatte Plantations PLC, managed by Damro Group, have been successful in planting another record extent during the year 2021.
Both regional plantation companies have during the year planted over 1,500 acres of tea and rubber extent Damro said in a statement.
The Group is also in the process of planting a further extent of 1,650 acres of tea and rubber during next season – 2022 and the land preparations and connected preliminary work have already been completed in more than 60% of the proposed extent.
Nine rubber nurseries that have already been established, containing 620,000 plants, will provide healthy planting materials for this ambitious replanting program, whilst 1,600,000 VP tea plants too have been raised in the tea nurseries, for next year’s planting and infilling program.
The Group expects to plant all low yielding and uneconomical tea and rubber fields on a five-year accelerated program, which will ensure sustainable growth in terms of production and productivity during the years ahead.
