Royal Cashews bags ‘NCE National Export Award’ for 4th time

Royal Cashews, a leading cashew processing and exporting company in Sri Lanka (www.royalcashew.lk), was conferred with the prestigious ‘Gold Award’ in the ‘Fresh and Processed Food Exporter’ category at the National Chamber of Exporters ‘NCE Export Awards – 2020’ held at Shangri-La Hotel Colombo recently. This is the fourth consecutive time Royal Cashews has received the award.

The ‘National Gold Award’ for the ‘Fresh and Processed Agricultural Export Crops’ category was awarded to the company at the 28th edition of the annual ‘National Export Awards’ organised by the NCE. The event was graced by Sri Lanka Telecom Chairman Rohan Fernando.

Commenting on the award Royal Cashews Managing Director Dr. Ruwan Wathugala said: “Royal Cashews as a leading cashew processing and exporting company in Sri Lanka is honoured to have been conferred the NCE National award for the fourth consecutive time, which is rare feat achieved by an organisation. Royal Cashew brings in a large sum of much-needed foreign exchange to the country each year through exports of a range of sought-after products. The NCE national award bestowed on the company for the fourth occasion is a recognition and an endorsement of excellence.

“Royal Cashews secured the ISO 14001:2015 EMS standard certification on international green-oriented processing, ISO 22000:2018 FSMS, HACCP & GMP standard certifications on standardised food processing; and Certificate of Conformity on principles of Ethical Trading Practices. 

“We are the only A to Z cashew processing company in Sri Lanka that has been bestowed with all the standard certifications,” Dr. Wathugala said, adding that the company uses world-class technology to produce Royal Cashews. 

He also said the Research and Development Department of the company introduced a diverse range of mouth-watering flavours to cater to the global market.  “We export Royal Cashew products to many countries and we are a preferred brand globally. Royal Cashews was launched in 1999 and was able to capture local and foreign markets in a short stint. Winning awards of this nature contributes to our success story.”

Royal Cashews comprises over 20 outlets across the country and it is the largest network for cashew products in the country. The outlets offer products manufactured to global quality and hygienic standards for local and foreign customers using cutting edge technology. 

Royal Cashews outlets are located at One Galle Face (Shangri-La Hotel Colombo), Colombo City Centre, Crescat (Colombo 03), Marino Mall, (Colombo 03), Orion City (Colombo), World Trade Centre, Arcade (Independence Square), K-Zone (Ja-Ela and Moratuwa), Kandy City Centre (Kandy), Southern Highway (Welipenna stop), Kiribathgoda, Nugegoda, Galle and Borella. With the introduction of and ‘Online Delivery System’ by the company recently, customers have been offered the opportunity to order products online and get fresh Royal Cashews products delivered to the doorsteps.

In addition to being recognised for four consecutive years with the NCE Export Award, Royal Cashews bagged the ‘Pro Food 2009 and 2011’ awards for nature-friendly packaging, the ‘MACO Business Excellence’ award, the ‘Lanka Star President’s Gold’ award, and the ‘ASIASTAR 2015’ award for green packaging.
