Each Agrarian Service Centre is to be provided with Rs. 1 million to produce the targeted amount of organic fertiliser.
Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage said this funding was aimed towards achieving production of 100 metric tons of organic fertiliser by each centre.
He also pointed out that the organic nitrogen and potassium fertiliser required by the farmers had already been imported and the fertiliser would be provided free of charge to all farmers.
The Minister also instructed the agrarian officers to pay the initial payment of Rs. 7,500 to the farmers who were currently registered for the production of organic fertiliser before 15 September.
He further emphasised that the complete organic fertiliser required for paddy cultivation should be produced under the guidance of the respective Agrarian Service Centres.
