Somerset achieves exceptional price for FBOP grade

The market for High Growns has been dropping steadily these past two weeks, as quality declined at the end of the Western quality season. Despite this an invoice of Somerset Estate FBOP achieved an all-time record price of Rs. 4,350 per kilo, surpassing the previous record of Rs. 2,500 by a massive Rs. 1,850.

Strong demand from Van Rees Ceylon Ltd. and Finlay’s Colombo PLC pushed the final buyer Talawakelle Tea Estates PLC to pay up this record for a Western High Grown FBOP.

Somerset Estate, comes under a subsidiary company of Hayleys Group. This estate is under the care of Regional General Manager Kosala Wijesekera.

This tea was sold by Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC.
