The Spices and Related Products Marketing Board commemorated a significant achievement as it celebrated its second anniversary while simultaneously unveiling a new outlet in Fort.
With a focus on fostering growth and innovation within Sri Lanka’s vibrant spices industry, the Board’s latest milestone was marked by the inauguration of their 27th sales branch.
This dual celebration encapsulates the Board’s vision for an enriched and empowered spices industry, poised to contribute to both the economic growth and cultural legacy of Sri Lanka.
Under the aegis of the Plantation Industries Ministry, the Spices and Related Products Marketing Board has firmly established itself as a dynamic force in the realm of spice manufacturing and marketing in Sri Lanka.
The momentous occasion, held on 21 August, unfolded against the backdrop of the iconic Fort railway station, where the new branch is strategically situated. Presiding over the event were distinguished figures; Industries and Plantation Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, Mass Media and Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Plantation Industries Ministry Secretary Janaka Dharmakirthi, and Spices and Related Products Marketing Board Chairperson Kumuduni Gunasekara. Their presence underscored the Government’s commitment to propelling Sri Lanka’s spices sector to new heights.
Reflecting on the progress, the Spices and Related Products Marketing Board Chairperson shared insights into the Board’s remarkable journey over the past two years.
She highlighted a significant accomplishment—the establishment of a state-of-the-art spice manufacturing facility in Embilipitiya. This cutting-edge facility boasts a massive storage capacity of 3200 metric tons, a testament to the Board’s dedication to meeting the burgeoning demands of the industry.
Gunasekara also unveiled the Board’s plans for the construction of new sales centres. These strategically positioned centres are poised to enhance accessibility to Sri Lanka’s renowned spices, exemplifying the Board’s unwavering commitment to serving both local and global markets.
