In a significant move to foster youth-driven innovation in agriculture, the Sri Lanka Agripreneurs’ Forum (SLAF) has partnered with the National Youth Services Council (NYSC) for the “Sarubima” initiative. This ground-breaking program aims to empower and support 10,000 budding Agripreneurs across Sri Lanka.
The first day of the event, which took place at the National Youth Services Council Maharagama, was a resounding success, attracting a dynamic crowd of young individuals who recently completed their Advanced Level (A/L) examinations.
In the opening session, Sports and Youth Minister Roshan Ranasinghe highlighted the vital role of agri-entrepreneurship and stressed the importance of involving youth in shaping the agricultural sector.
At the event's conclusion, Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera provided insights into the current state of agriculture in Sri Lanka and emphasised the urgent requirement for innovation in agri-entrepreneurship. Additionally, he shared his perspective on the challenges faced by the agricultural sector.
SLAF Chairperson Rizvi Zaheed highlighted the critical importance of agri-entrepreneurship in today's world and the global opportunities available for agri-entrepreneurs.
Agroworld Ltd. Secretary and CEO Dr. Selvanathan Anojan shared his inspiring journey as an Agripreneur, offering invaluable insights into his experiences and achievements.
TRACE Vice Chairman Heminda Jayaweera delivered a keynote speech on “Design Thinking” encouraging innovative problem-solving in agriculture. Following these engaging presentations,
SLAF CEO Ruwin Mapa took the stage to emphasise the importance of agri-professionals and introduced SLAF's ongoing projects aimed at revolutionising agriculture in Sri Lanka.
NYSC Chairman Pasindu Gunarathna delivered a compelling speech during the proceedings, emphasising the integral role of youth in entrepreneurship.
Suleco Ltd., conducted an impressive drone demonstration, showcasing the potential of technology in agriculture.
At the event outstanding Agripreneurs were recognised and awarded for their exceptional performance.
