The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou arranged the participation of agents of Sri Lankan food companies, based in China in the 2021 Guangzhou World Agriculture exposition held from 8-9 November. Sri Lankan products including Ceylon Tea, biscuits, spices and kithul pani were promoted and sold at the fair.
The exposition was held for the first time in Guangzhou in 2019 and the Consulate initiated and coordinated the participation of Sri Lanka in the fair through the Sri Lankan Export Development Board. During the time, several Sri Lankan companies participated from Sri Lanka to the fair and also participated in 2020, for the matchmaking program, held online due to the pandemic situation. The Sri Lankan companies were able to secure several buyers for their products.
The exposition aims to strengthen international trade and cooperation as well as being a platform for promoting agricultural product supply chains.
Over 150 local and foreign enterprises located in China including several Consulates in Guangzhou participated in the exposition with over 150 buyers attending the fair. There were nearly 6,000 visitors to the fair.
