At the Colombo Tea Auction held on 18 August, three invoices offered from Dickwella Estate, Hali Ela, under their St. James selling mark set all-time record prices for their FBOP, BOP and Pekoe1 grades this week.
This is the second consecutive week that this estate realised the highest ever price for Uva Medium teas. With this Dickwella becomes the first estate to achieve three all-time records in a single auction.
St. James FBOP sold at an exceptional price of Rs. 1,400 per kg breaking the previous record of Rs. 1,250 per kg recorded for this type of tea. This tea was purchased by Unilever Lipton Ceylon Ltd., Tea Division.
At the same time an invoice of St. James BOP realised an all-time record price of Rs. 1,750 per kg this week. This tea was bought by Ceylon Tea Marketing Ltd.
In addition, St. James Pekoe1 grade improved their own record realised last week by achieving Rs. 1,750 per kg. This tea once again was purchased by Ceylon Tea Marketing Ltd.
These record-breaking teas are manufactured at Dickwella Estate, belonging to Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC. These teas were marketed by Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC.
Dickwella Estate is in the very capable care of Regional Manger Chaminda Perera and the factory by the Master Tea Maker, the veteran A.M. Shajahan.
