Sri Lanka tea production in October remained almost flat at 23.99 million kilos, showing a marginal increase of 0.15 million kilos from a year ago.
Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers said High and Medium elevations had shown an increase, whilst the Low Growns recorded a marginal decline over the corresponding month of 2020.
Latest crop is above 2.74 million kilos in comparison to October 2019.
Tea production in the first 10 months of 2021 totalled 258.61 million kilos, up by 33.3 million kilos from the corresponding period of last year.
Forbes said all elevations had shown substantial gains over the corresponding period of 2020. In comparison to the 2019 first 10 months’ crop, current year performance is up 4.4 million kilos.
