Following last week’s record-breaking performance in the Low Grown OP1 category, teas sold under the New Vithanakande Mark set a new record of Rs. 1,700 per kg for the same grade. This tea was purchased by Tea Tang Ltd.
At the same auction another Invoice from New Vithanakande Estate established an All Time Record price for its BOP1 Grade by achieving Rs. 1,550 per kg. This line of tea was purchased by Tea-Link Colombo Ltd.
New Vithanakande Tea Factory is located in Delwala hills of the Sabaragamuwa region and is owned by the family members of late N.B.H. Pilapitiya.
Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC handled the sale of both these record breaking teas.
