The Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Alexis Taylor, recently visited New Anthoney’s Farms at Hanwella. As one of the leading poultry producers in Sri Lanka, the visit underscores New Anthoney’s commitment towards sustainable practices and its growing ties with US.

This marks a significant moment for New Anthoney’s as they were able to showcase their state-of-the-art facility which embraces sustainably responsible processes in all aspects of its production. Under Secretary Taylor is on a visit to Sri Lanka to discuss and strengthen USDA’s support for the country’s agriculture sector.

The Under Secretary together with the management of New Anthoney’s also shared views and sentiments on how their partnership can contribute to enhancing food security in the country.

New Anthoney’s was the first company globally to embrace the ‘Fed with Sustainable US Soy’ label by the US Soybean Export Council (USSEC), displaying a holistic commitment towards sourcing sustainable ingredients from the U.S, and many others followed suit thereon.

Since its inception, Anthoney’s have followed the scientific certified methods of the animal welfare criteria in its farming and production processes set forth by the National Chicken Council (NCC) in the US. It also recently obtained the internationally recognised FSSC 22000 certification.

Renowned for its ‘green’ label, New Anthoney’s has a track-record of pursuing environmentally-friendly practices and setting industry benchmarks time and again. It is the only producer in Sri Lanka that adopts biodegradable packaging, and the only one with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Verification Statement from Control Union in accordance with its ISO 14064-1:2018 standards.

The group is eyeing for expansion in its end-to-end poultry value chain, including widening its process food portfolio, strengthening its retail presence, growing its export markets, among others, by placing sustainability at the heart of everything it does, to bring the most nutritious, safest, and freshest chicken to its loyal consumers.
