An equal all-time record price of Rs. 700 per Kg was obtained for an invoice of Fannings-1 grade produced by Alton Estate at this week’s Colombo Tea Auction held on 15 March. Alton Estate is situated at Upcot in the Maskeliya region. Alton Estate is well recognised for manufacturing good quality Western High Grown teas and the estate is managed by Horana Plantations PLC. The above tea was purchased by Amazon Teas Ltd. and the selling broker was Mercantile Produce Brokers Ltd.
