An all-time record price of Rs. 1,100 per kg was obtained for an invoice of OP-1 grade produced by Sithaka Tea Factory at this week’s Colombo Tea Auctions held on 16 May.
The previous all-time record price for this factory at Rs. 1,000 was obtained in 21 August 2013 and after four years the factory managed to break its own record.
Avissawella Tea Factory is situated in the Avissawella region, and Sithaka mark is well recognised for manufacturing good quality Low Grown Orthodox teas.
The factory comes under the purview of RTS Group which consists of three factories – Sithaka, Hidellana and New Deraniyagala.
This esteemed tea factory is owned by proprietor Lalith Liyanage and the line of tea was purchased by Ms. Green Horizon Enterprises Ltd.
This came under the hammer of Mercantile Produce Brokers Ltd.
