Employees who were with the company from its inception were felicitated during the event.
Speaking at the occasion, Alma Teas Managing Director Amanda Weerasinghe noted the company was able to win the trust of the world market because it maintained the finest quality and standard of tea over the last decade.
“Never in our history have we received complaints of the quality of our product. I believe that we were able to achieve rapid growth in the business because we have always maintained high quality in the products we export. Our Aura brand is already established in the world tea market,” he said.
He stated that the company also contributed significantly to Sri Lanka’s export income.
Weerasinghe said that in order to appropriately mark its 10th anniversary, the company plans to expand into the local market. “We have already introduced Hela Kahata to the local market and I believe we will win the hearts of consumers in the local market just the way we won customers in the world market.”
Almar Teas CEO Jayawardena commended the remarkable journey of the company over the last 10 years in marketing high-quality teas to the world tea market.
He pointed out that Almar Teas, a company started in 2005 with only eight employees, was able to be among the top 20 leading tea exporters in Sri Lanka by 2014. The company was also able to survive the global economic recession and grow rapidly during such a small timeframe because it made the right decisions at the right times.
“I joined Almar Teas in 2009 and became the CEO in 2013. I was able to market tea catering to different tastes and needs of customers worldwide resulting in an exponential growth of our sales,” he added.
“Our next target is to be among the top 10 tea exporters in Sri Lanka by the end of this year,” said Jayawardena. “I would also like to thank our Managing Director Amanda Weerasinghe and our staff for their immense and constant support.”
