Associated Motor Ways Ltd. has been a strong force in working towards the growth of the economic development of Sri Lanka and to this end has always strived to provide world renowned brands within the motor vehicle industry.
As part of a new venture targeting the farmer community that accounts for a majority of the country, AMW entered into a partnership Agreement with New Holland Fiat India, part of CNH Industrial, in December 2013.
As the first step in cementing this Agreement, the head office was opened in Anuradhapura on 6 March 2014 with the participation of Chief Guests AMW Group Managing Director Samantha Rajapakse, Anuradhapura Mayor H.P. Somadhasa and Senior General Manager, After Sales, New Holland FIAT India Ltd. Mr. Ramakumar together with Government Agent Mahinda Seneviratne.
Members of the AMW Management, the New Holland team from India, dealers, customers and leasing partners were among the guests at the opening located at Lumbini, Jayanthi Mawatha, Anuradhapura. The historic city of Anuradhapura was a natural choice for the setting up of the head office as a majority of the farming community are found in and around this city.
CNH, an amalgamation of the Case IH and New Holland brands has a worldwide reputation and expertise and consists of brands and products with a rich history of over 170 years. From tractors and combines, excavators, wheel loaders, trucks, buses, firefighting and civil protection vehicles to powertrain solutions for on and off road and marine, the Group designs, produces and sells ‘machines for work’.
Through their partnership with AMW, New Holland-CNH hopes to provide tractors for harvesting, material handling equipment and the necessary financial services. As a result both parties believe the agricultural industry can be strengthened with farmers given the very best in order to produce a healthy and sustainable output. Having a strong reputation in superlative after sales service, AMW will be able to bring in this vital aspect in service that is a dire need for those purchasing such equipment. The commitment and dedication towards this end from the AMW team is what truly adds value to the New Holland products sold in Sri Lanka.
“The farming community undergoes severe hardships in maintaining their livelihood. Their hard work is what provides the rest of the nation with essential nutrition and food. Through this partnership we hope to be able to reach out to this community. It is for this reason that AMW opted to open this branch in Anuradhapura to be closer to the community it serves, despite AMW’s head office being based in Colombo. The availability of spare parts and a friendly and efficient after sales team from the AMW staff will also go a long way in stabilising these products in the industry,” said AMW Group Managing Director Samantha Rajapakse at the branch opening.
CNH believes that the introduction of New Holland tractors and equipment will bring about quality enrichment in the agricultural mechanisation in Sri Lanka.
Together, the two parties will make a difference bringing sustainable agricultural solutions to the industry in Sri Lanka.
