Reuters: An animation relating the issue of consenting sex to having a cup of tea has gone viral since it was uploaded at the end of October.
The video released by Thames Valley Police shows various scenarios of people offering each other tea, with a narration explaining when someone should give another person the beverage and when they should not. Detective Chief Inspector Justin Fletcher explained the campaign aimed to ensure that everyone is aware of when they have sexual consent and when they do not. Thames Valley Police worked on the project with their partners, The Thames Valley Sexual Violence Prevention Group. Christina Diamandopoulos, co-director of Rape Crisis in the South East, said there have been myths surrounding the subject of consent for too long and that it is still considered a “grey” area.
The campaign video has already attracted over 600,000 views since its launch on October 27.
