The Centre for Agrib-usiness Development (CAD) has made all the arrangements to launch a weekly consumer fair named “Diyawanna Family Fair” at Diyatha Uyana, Battaramulla starting from 04 September 2013.
Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena will be the chief guest of the opening ceremony which is scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m. and the fair will be open for consumers every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. thereafter. There will be 130 stalls from product categories such as fruits and vegetables, food products, eco and village products, meat and fish, footwear and leather, kitchen items, textiles, home décor and interior, handicrafts as well as books and educational items.
This novel idea will be a great opportunity for people to buy their regular requirements of food and household items as well as other requirements in the area. In order to provide consumers with a complete market experience, CAD has linked up with major producers and distributors of food and grocery items to sell their products directly from factories to consumers.
Home garden products, eco-friendly products and health and herbal products will also be available in the fair, especially for people who are more concerned about buying healthier local products.
The main objective of the proposed family fair is to develop a direct market platform for food and other products demanded by urban consumers where they can purchase quality products at best prices from reliable suppliers. CAD has selected all vendors through a careful selection process from small and medium organisations as well as the corporate sector to ensure that the fair would provide “quality, reliable products at the best price”. The Centre for Agribusiness Development (CAD) is a organisation working with the objective of developing the agribusiness sector in Sri Lanka by assisting agro entrepreneurs and companies to develop their quality, productivity and efficiency to become more commercially-oriented whilst protecting the environment.
