Monday, 6 February, marked the opening of the 24th PRODEXPO International Exhibition which will be held in Moscow until 10 February. It is the largest annual specialised exhibition in Russia and Eastern Europe focused on food, beverages and raw materials.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organised three colourful stands with the support of the Sri Lanka Tea Board and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board.
On the first day of the exhibition Minister of Plantation Industries of Sri Lanka Navin Dissanayake, Sri Lanka Tea Board Chairman Rohan Pethiyagoda and Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia Dr. Saman Weerasinghe officially opened Sri Lankan stands and met with representatives of Sri Lankan companies participating in the exhibition in sectors of tea, fisheries and exports.
The exhibition is known to be a great and efficient platform to establish direct business connections between Russian and Sri Lankan companies and to improve bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries in general.
