Colombo Tea Auction continues to brew record prices

All-time record price for Hingalgoda PF1 for fourth consecutive week Hingalgoda Tea Factory situated in Hiniduma, Galle, achieved an all-time record price for a low grown CTC PF1 grade for the fourth consecutive week with a price of Rs. 700 per kg at the weekly tea auctions held yesterday.  The invoice was purchased by UK Beverages. Hingalgoda CTC Teas are renowned for their colour, strength and bright liquoring characteristics, which are keenly sought-after by a range of reputed tea exporters. Hingalgoda Tea Factory is managed by Tea Small Holder Factories PLC and the sale was conducted by tea broker John Keells PLC.   All-time record price for Nuwara Eliya Estate Nuwara Eliya estate situated in Labookelle has established two all-time record prices at this week’s tea auction. A liquoring BOP1 grade of this estate selling under the Inverness mark sold at an attractive price of Rs. 1,400 per kg surpassing the previous record of Rs. 1,000 held by this estate. Inverness also set a new record for the FBOPF1 grade by achieving a price of Rs. 720 per kg, incidentally surpassing its own record once again, which was established last week. Nuwara Eliya estate is managed by Kelani Valley Plantations PLC and the sale of these teas was conducted by John Keells PLC. These invoices were purchased by Euro-Scan Exports and /s Akbar Brothers.   Chrystlers Farm Estate achieves all-time record price Chrystlers Farm Estate selling under the St. Andrews mark set an all- time record price for a liquoring FBOPF1 grade of Rs. 720 per kg at this week’s tea auction. This estate situated in Kotagala comes under the purview of Kotagala Plantations PLC. The line of tea was purchased by Union Commodities and the sole broker for this estate is John Keells PLC.   Nayapane Estate establishes all-time record price Nayapane Estate, situated in Pussellawa, has established an all-time record price of Rs. 920 per kg, for a liquoring OP1 grade surpassing the previous record of Rs. 900 which was established last month. This line of tea was purchased by Euro-Scan Exports.  Nayapane Estate is managed by Elpitiya Plantations and the sole broker for the estate is John Keells PLC.
