Cooroondoowatte sets all time record for BOP 1 Grade

Cooroondoowatte Estate situated in Udahentenna in Kandy district established an all time record price of Rs. 760 per kg for a line of BOP 1 Grade at the weekly tea auctions held on 9 July 2013. This price surpassed the previous record of Rs. 740. This line of tea was purchased by Watawala Trading Company and the sale was conducted by Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers (Pvt) Ltd. who are the sole brokers for this mark.
Cooroondoowatte estate which has a history of proprietary ownership commencing from the Stephens family in the 1880s during the coffee era, is presently owned and managed by Robert Harley and family who too have a long history of plantation management in Sri Lanka. This selling mark is reputed for consistently producing teas of highest quality in the medium grown elevation category.
