Craighead teas continues to establish all time record prices

Situated in the hills of Nawalapitiya Agro Climatic Sub Region, Craighead which was named in the coffee era after an ancestral Scottish family name has to its credit established two all time record prices previously for medium grown orthodox teas. A line of BOP1 grade from Craighead achieved an All time record price of Rs.780/- per kg at the weekly tea auction conducted on 19th August 2013. This price surpasses the previous all time record price of Rs.760/- which was jointly held by Cooroondoowatte and Imboolpittia. This line of tea was purchased by M/s Basilur Tea Export (Pvt) Ltd . The sale was conducted by M/s Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers (Pvt) Ltd who is the sole broker for the Craighead Mark. Craighead which is reputed for consistently producing quality medium grown tea is owned and managed by Kahawatte Plantations PLC.
