A high-profile dairy sector delegation from France will be in Colombo in the second week of February. This delegation is led by ADEPTA, the French International organisation in charge of promoting agriculture and agro industries.
ADEPTA, created in 1977, with support from the French Ministry of Agriculture, accompanies the international development of equipment manufacturers, suppliers of input, experts and engineering and design departments in the agriculture and agro-food industry.
French dairy industry comprises of 11.3 million herd cattle, including 3.8 million of dairy cows. France is a leader in dairy production in the European Union, being the first producer of cheese (more than 1000 varieties) and butter in the region.
The dairy industry is the second most important agro-food industry in France listing three French groups Lactalis, Danone, Bongrain among the top 15 dairy companies in the world.
The French dairy delegation to Colombo in February is an extension of a mission to India. French companies in dairy equipment and genetics will be part of this delegation.
