This week’s auction offerings totalling 6.3 m kgs were marginally lower than last week’s offerings. Ex estate offerings totaling 0.8 m kgs met with good demand.
BOPS met with good demand all round where better westerns gained Rs.5 - 10 per kg whilst the below best sorts declined Rs.5 – 10 per kg. Nuwara Eliyas along with the Uva/Udapussellawas gained Rs.10 - 15 per kg on average. Western BOPFS declined Rs.10 – 15 per kg all round from last week’s closing levels. Nuwara Eliyas followed a similar trend losing Rs.5 – 10 per on average. However, Udapussellawas sold firm. Uvas gained Rs.5 – 10 per kg on average. In the CTC category High grown BP1S sold Rs. 10 – 20 per kg dearer however, Mid grown BP1S declined Rs.10- 20 per kg. Low Grown BP1S sold at last week’s levels. High grown PF1S sold fully firm to dearer however, Mid & Low Grown PF1S sold at last week’s levels.
In the High & Medium leafy category the best PEK/PEK1S sold firm to last along with FBOP/FBOPF1S . OPAS sold irregular.
Low Growns comprising approximately 3.3 m kgs met with good demand. The select best BOP1S/OP1S were fully firm to dearer. In the OP/OPAS category select best sold lower to last. Better PEK/PEK1S too were fully firm to dearer however, others were barely steady. In the small leaf Tippy catalogues select best FBOPS sold Rs.5 - 10 per kg dearer. Well made tippy teas were dearer Rs.25 – 30 per kg and more. Cleaner sorts too appreciated in value. Best FF1S along with the below best category gained Rs.10 -15 per kg whilst others tended irregular. Cleaner teas at the bottom end maintained.
