The Government has decided to increase the quantity of fertiliser provided to paddy farmers for the 2013/2014 Maha Season by 15% over last year.
Fertiliser stocks required for this have currently been stored and are available, the Ministry of Finance and Planning said.
The Government expects around 700,000 hectares of land to be cultivated for the Maha Season and the decision to increase fertiliser was taken after considering this fact, the Ministry said.
