Hayleys wins record 14 awards at AgBiz 2012

Awarded six Gold, three Silver and four Bronze medals plus National award for contributions to agriculture

The Hayleys Group’s deep-rooted and all-embracing involvement in Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector was fittingly acknowledged with a record 14 awards at the 2012 National Agri Business (AgBiz) awards in Colombo last week.

Seven of the nine companies clustered under Hayleys Agriculture were honoured at this prestigious event with six Gold, three Silver and four Bronze awards, as well as a National award for their contributions to the sector in the concluded financial year.

“We are elated to sweep the board once again at the National Agri Business awards,” said Hayleys Group Director in-charge of the conglomerate’s agriculture sector companies Rizvi Zaheed. “The fact that Hayleys companies have consistently improved their showing at this event each year is testimony to the fact that the Group’s commitment to Agriculture is not just being sustained, but is growing.”

Of the 2012 award winners, Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Ltd., (formerly Hayleys Agro Products Ltd.) received three Gold awards for Import and Supply of Farm Machinery, Equipment and tools, for Extension Services and Veterinary Care Products; a Sliver for Agro Chemicals and a Bronze for Imported Seeds, all in the ‘Large’ category.

Gold awards were also won by Sunfrost Ltd., (Extension Services - Large), HJS Condiments Ltd., (marketing and export of fruit and vegetables, large) and Quality Seed Co. Ltd., (producers, seed farms, small).

Agro Technica Ltd., was awarded Silver as a Producer (Manufacture of farm machinery, equipment and tool extension) in the Large category, while Hayleys Agro Biotech Ltd., received the third Silver award for Retail/Wholesale Marketing in the Small category.

Quality Seed Co. Ltd., grabbed two Bronze awards as a Producer, for plant nurseries and foliage and cut flower farms in the Small category, while Hayleys Agro Farms Ltd., took the Bronze as a Producer (Seed Farms) in the Medium category.

Meanwhile, HJS Condiments was adjudged first runner-up for the National award for Marketing – Export of Fruits and Vegetables.

The 14 awards won this year takes the total number of awards secured by the Hayleys Group at the National Agri Business Awards in the last four years to 35, 16 of them Golds. The awards were organised by the National Agribusiness Council for the seventh consecutive time this year.

The nine companies that make up Hayleys Agriculture are Hayleys Agro Products Ltd., Hayleys Agro Fertilisers Ltd., Haychem Ltd., Agro Technica Ltd., Hayleys Agro Biotech Ltd., Sunfrost Ltd., HJS Condiments Ltd., Hayleys Agro Farms Ltd., and Quality Seed Co. Ltd.
