The port city of Xiamen, in the province of Fujian, is known as the focal point of the tea route from the shores to the major tea distributing centers in China. The history of tea and Xiamen are synonymous and in fact the word tea originates from the Xiamen dialect.
The third annual tea fair organised by the Xiamen general Chamber of Commerce was successfully held from 19 to 22 October at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Centre.
The exclusive tea fair was the biggest tea exhibition ever to be held in the world-class exhibition venue. More than 300 exhibitors participated in this year’s fair and over 50,000 personnel connected with the tea industry visited.
For the second time, HVA attended the widely popular China Xiamen International Tea Fair and showcased its product profile under the brands ‘Heladiv’ and ‘Infini-T’ at an impressive stall operated by the joint venture partners in China, the Beijing Pure Ceylon Tea company.
Hundreds of prospective buyers and distributors visited the stall during the four days to discuss potential business collaborations.
Visitors from Sri Lanka represented by Secretary Sudharma Karunaratne and Raja Premadasa of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Srikantha of the Sri Lanka Tea Board visited the Infini-T booth and were presented with the Infini-T royal pearl set which won the gold award at the Beijing International Tea Expo 2012.
Later after the exhibition, they visited the main Infini-T tea shop in Quan-Zhou, opened in 2009, paving the way for a chain of tea cafes in many parts of China currently numbering 30.
It was definitely a successful venture in China and HVA has become the benchmark and partner of choice in this challenging country. HVA’s resolve to introduce pure Ceylon tea in its true form and variations has created an indelible mark in the Chinese tea market with customers further demanding clean and exotic Ceylon teas.
