India extends Rs. 572 m boost for agriculture

Donates tractors and agricultural implements

The Government of India donated 500 four wheel tractors and agricultural implements to the Government of Sri Lanka to be distributed to the people in the North.

four wheel tractors and agricultural implements including multipurpose nine tine tillers, three point mounted rotovators, cage wheels, two furrow disc ploughs donated by the Government of India to the Government of Sri Lanka early this week at the Galle Face Green. On the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the above items are scheduled to be distributed to the conflict affected people in the Northern Province under the “Uthuru Wasanthaya” programme. The value of this donation by the Government of India is Rs. 572.28 million.

Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Ashok K. Kantha handed over the above donation to Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development at the ceremony.
