Factories owned and managed by Kahawatte Plantations PLC, reputed for producing highest quality medium grown orthodox teas, are recognised for their consistency and are continuously sought after by the buyers at weekly Colombo tea auctions.
At this week’s tea auctions, three factories established new all time record prices surpassing the previous records established by them in the recent past. This is no doubt an example for others to follow as quality and consistency is always well rewarded.
Craighead mark established an all-time record price of Rs. 650 per kg for a BOPF Sp grade which surpassed previous all time record price of Rs. 600 per kg established by them last week. This line of tea was purchased by Imperial Teas Ltd.
Craighead and Imboolpitiya marks jointly established an all-time record price of Rs. 990 per kg for a FBOP grade surpassing previous all-time record price of Rs. 920 per kg established by the Rilagala mark of the same company. The buyer of the Craighead line was J-Cey – Tea Ltd. and buyer of the Imboolpitiya line was St. Clair Teas Ltd. Queensbury Mark established an all-time record price of Rs. 650 per kg for a Western High Grown FF1 grade. This record price surpassed the record established by them at last week’s tea auctions. This line of tea was purchased by Imperial Teas Ltd.
