Kirklees Estate achieves all-time record price at Colombo Tea Auctions

At the recently concluded tea auctions of 12 October, Kirklees Estate had the proud distinction of establishing an all-time record price of Rs. 570 for a Dust No-1 Grade in the Uda Pussellawa category. This line of tea was purchased by M/S L.G.W Perera & Company.

Kirklees Estate is situated at an elevation of 1,400 metres above mean sea level in the Uda Pussellawa planting district. The total extent is 232 hectares with an annual production is 600,000 kilograms of made tea. Kirklees is a name that originated from an area in Northern England in West Yorkshire.

Kirklees Estate maintains a high standard of manufacture focused on producing good quality teas, which has attributed to this achievement.

The first superintendent of Kirklees estate was J.A. Ogden. The estate presently comes under the stewardship of the superintendent Varuna Athauda.

Eastern Brokers Ltd. are the brokers associated with the sale of Kirklees Estate teas. Kirklees Estate comes under the management of RPC Management Services Ltd., of Richard Pieris Group of Companies.
