At the Colombo Tea Auctions of 2 November 2016, Kirklees Estate had the proud distinction of establishing yet another All-Time Record Price of Rs. 640 for a Dust No-1 Grade in the Uda Pussellawa category. This Line of tea was purchased by M/S L. G. W. Perera & Company. This price surpasses the record price of Rs. 570 previously established by Kirklees Estate at the sale of 12 October 2016.
Kirklees Estate has been continuously maintaining a high standard of manufacture with the focus on producing some of the best Ceylon teas. This attributes the increased demand for Kirklees Teas throughout the year.
Kirklees Estate is renowned for its BOP, BOPF and Dust No-1 grades which are highly sought out teas at the Colombo Auctions.
Kirklees estate is situated at an elevation of 1400 metres above mean sea level in the Uda Pussellawa planting district. The total extent is 232 hectares with an annual production of 600,000 kilograms of made tea.
The estate comes under the stewardship of Superintendent Varuna Athauda who has been behind the success of Kirklees Estate.
