Tea Production for November this year has been recorded as 29.8 MKGS, which is a month-on-month decrease of 1.9 MKGS when compared to last year’s crop for the corresponding month, according to Lanka Commodity Brokers.
During the month under review, the production of Low Grown teas has recorded a drop of 2.02% mom whilst High and Medium Grown teas too have registered deficits of 15% and 6.2% respectively.
From the year-to-date position, that the year-over-year (YOY) deficit in crop, has now reached 2.1 MKGS with the production of both high and medium plantations showing a drop of 5.9 MKGS, and 0.4 MKGS respectively. The Low Growns however, have recorded a positive variance of 4.1 MKGS compared to last year’s crop, Lanka Commodity Brokers added.
