KOPIA (Korea Project for International Agriculture) Sri Lanka Centre participated in a launching workshop of a livelihood development program on 10 June at ‘Daya Apparel’ in Ampara. KOPIA Sri Lanka Centre Director Dr. Chang Byoung Choon attended this workshop as the chief guest and delivered a special lecture on ‘Suitable cultivation technologies for mushroom production in Sri Lanka’ with his Korean experiences. The farmers showed a profound interest in the new technologies introduced in the lecture.
The livelihood development program was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture for the farming community in the Ampara district. The main objective of this program is to increase the income of the farming community through increasing productivity by providing the necessary facilities and suitable technologies to the farmers.
Under the guidance of Deputy Minister of Agriculture Dr. Anoma Gamage, approximately 500 local farmers engaged in mushroom production, floriculture and home gardening participated in this event.
