Farmers who were displaced during the war and returned to their homes in Mullativu are presently reaping a plentiful vegetable harvest.
They are mostly chilli and chick pea farmers and since being resettled have taken steps to farm almost every part of land available to them.
Harvest time has arrived for these plants and for the first time since the end of the conflict, the farmers are readying to benefit from their hard work. They are also happy over the fact that the market has a high demand for their produce.
In this region most homes have cultivated vegetables and are making an income by selling the produce in stocks to traders outside of the area.
